Pauline Hewitt

I have been practicing as a counsellor and psychotherapist since 2007 firstly gaining experience within the voluntary and community sector and then setting up my private practice in 2013 under the name of Eden Therapies.

Seeing everyone as having unique value and worth, I have always counted it a privilege and honour to be invited into a client’s most difficult experiences and offer a collaborative and client centred approach that brings safety in finding healing from the past, peace in the present and hope for the future.

I have specialised as a trauma informed therapist through further training and qualifications and am passionate about helping people to find freedom from adverse, negative or traumatic situations in their childhood and/or adult lives that has changed the way they view themselves, others and the world affecting functioning and management of life and relationships in the present.  I use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing) and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy as a means in bringing resolution to disturbing life events in order to regain a sense of self in the present.  It is true to say that the relationship we have with ourselves affects all other relationships.

An area of particular interest that led to further training has been that of coercive and controlling environments within cult, religion or church that leads to someone experiencing religious trauma or spiritual abuse. Being aware of how difficult these issues are to bring to therapy I offer a confidential, empathic, non-judgemental and educational space to bring understanding and healing.

I am an Accredited member of BACP (British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists) and a Europe Accredited EMDR Practitioner.  I am also a qualified Couple therapist and Clinical Supervisor.
