I began my counselling career in 2010 working in voluntary and community settings on a part time basis. During this time I was working with families who had experienced domestic violence. I am passionate about families and have facilitated parenting programs, I supported many families over 10+ years who had experienced or were living with domestic abuse. I enjoyed the variety of working with young people and adults both individually and within groups. More recently I worked as a counsellor within secondary schools.
I see my role as a counsellor, is to provide a safe, supportive place for you to speak openly and feel listened to. It is a great feeling to be heard and understood. I am a very relaxed, warm, caring and professional counsellor and my foundations to the sessions are to be empathetic, genuine and non-judgemental.
Being client led during sessions I recognise that everyone is different and we all learn and process individually. I am passionate about helping people find connection with themselves emotionally and with others.
I have recently started to study further the complexities of trauma and have been greatly enjoying this challenge and hope to complete some courses over the coming year.
I view counselling is a journey and everyone moves at their own pace, I would be happy to help start, continue or even finish that journey with you.
