Alison Chesney

I began my counselling studies in 2006 following a career in Nursing.

I qualified as a counsellor in 2010 and became an Accredited Member of The British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists in 2012.

Since then I have worked as a counsellor in the public and voluntary sector. I have experience in working with adults and children and young people. I have particular interest in trauma recovery and relationship issues.

I provide my clients with a warm, supportive, open and trusting therapeutic relationship and a safe
space in which to share, in confidence, whatever is causing you difficulties in your life.

Throughout the past 10+ years I have witnessed the positive change in the public’s perception, recognition and acceptance of the benefits of “talking therapies” and  I seek to encourage people to see counselling/therapy as a life enhancing process and a commitment to ourselves that we avail of throughout our lives in order to achieve a life well lived.

As a society we are beginning to understand the far reaching impacts of adverse/traumatic/negative events in our lives and the benefits to be had from seeking help in order to come to a place of understanding allowing us to live more positively.

My hope is that you will acquire a deeper understanding of yourself and others as a result and discover a greater capacity for making choices in your life.

My private practice is based close to Banbridge, on the edge of Scarva village. I can offer privacy, convenient parking and flexible appointments.

Nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. Now is the time to understand more, so that we may fear less.  (Marie Curie)
