Counselling and Psychotherapy
Welcome to Eden Counselling and Psychotherapy
We offer therapeutic support both face to face and online, to individuals and couples, using therapy approaches that are tailored to meet a client’s needs and difficulties. Our therapists are fully accredited and have many years experience within their specialised fields.
Our Story
Eden Counselling & Psychotherapy was initially created in 2012. It has now grown a team of like-minded, experienced and specialised therapists.
We see each individual as having unique value and worth therefore underpinning our core values of a non-judgemental, empathic and genuine approach that builds a safe and confidential therapeutic relationship between the therapist and client. We believe in the connection between emotional, mental, physical and spiritual wellbeing, bringing an approach to therapy that considers the whole person and not just the presenting problem.

Counselling and Psychotherapy
Integrating various therapy approaches acknowledges that “one size doesn’t fit all.”
Counselling is often seen as short-term and focused on specific issues or goals that are related to present. Psychotherapy is a longer-term deeper process that addresses patterns developed in the past/early life. We recognise that a decision to engage in therapy is a courageous step to take and each individual’s or couple’s experience will be treated with respect and confidentiality, helping you to explore the difficulties you face. Clients learn to understand emotional responses, thinking and behavioural patterns, process hurt, betrayal, trauma or abuse in order to find peace in the present and hope for the future.
Your first session will be an assessment on the reasons for coming to therapy and can take 60 – 90 minutes. Subsequent sessions are 50-60 minutes for individuals and 90 minutes for couples on a weekly or fortnightly basis.

CBT
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a research based therapy used widely for mental health disorders. It considers how our thinking patterns affect our behaviours and emotions and provides coping strategies to bring change. It is useful in the treatment of anxiety, depression, PTSD and phobias.
EMDR
Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR) is a recognised, research based psychotherapy as an effective treatment for trauma and PTSD. Using bilateral stimulations of eye movements, tones or sensors has proven to significantly reduce the physiological and psychological distress of traumatic and difficult memories. It is a therapy that has progressed in it’s treatment of anxiety, depression and other mood disorders and is used as a resource to stabilise somatic, emotional and thought processes
Sensorimotor Psychotherapy
This therapy concentrates on the role of the body in trauma, the physical symptoms and memories locked in the body after the event/s. It uses mindfulness techniques to listen to the body and offers resources and processing of memories through this means.
Couple Therapy
We offer therapy to any couple with issues in their relationship including communication, betrayal and intimacy. We use education on relationship dynamics and offer a safe neutral environment for a couple to discuss and find a way forward.
Children & Young People
We offer therapy for Children & Young People from 11-18. Our therapists hold a specialised qualification in CYP counselling and have years of experience in working competently with this client group. This involves an understanding and training in child development therefore offering empathic and skilled interventions appropriate to the age and stage of the client. Referring your child/teenager to therapy can be an anxious time and our therapists provide a collaborative process for both whilst offering confidentiality for the young person.
PCC Model
The Post Cult Counselling (PCC) Model was developed and written by Dr Gillie Jenkinson. This model of therapy uses a workbook to educate and process abusive and controlling dynamics that are present in coercive or totalitarian environments. Particularly helpful for those affected by cult, religious or spiritual abuse but also useful for abusive domestic or work settings. Sessions can be carried out weekly, fortnightly or as a more intensive basis of 4-5 days.
